"Just
very carefully and gently grab that tonsil, and we're going to pull it
out. And now I'm going to make my little incision along the anterior tonsillar pillar.
And you can see, actually, right here, this is where the kind
of round part of the tonsil ends, and we're getting into the fossa where
the muscle is...so we're going to stay right on that line.
You can see these filmy bands, that's what holds the tonsil in place.
We'll try to do the majority of our coagulating on the tonsil, which is
going to come out, so that we won't leave a lot of char behind.
And we're just taking this tonsil out little by little. Very straight
forward. There we have it...there's the tonsil.
So just as a last anatomy lesson, you can see that we have not disturbed
the uvula, it's been laying like this the whole time. We haven't traumatized
it. What we have done is we've taken the tonsils out. Now he's got two
areas where the tonsils used to be, called the fossa, and down here is
where the breathing tube is going in. And we've lost really no blood.
So...that's it."
